Your family is struggling to buy food and it seems that if you want to eat, the only way you can support them is to get work.
You, my friend, are going to find a job.
And it looks like you will be busy... 16 hour days... Six days a week... For maybe 50 cents a day... Not so bad... right?
That's not all! You'll probably work in a place that's dusty or smoky with poor ventilation. The technology often breaks and there are no safety regulations so the machinery may catch fire or walls may collapse on you... No biggy. Your bosses won't care about you because they can replace you easily. They will not like you talking to anyone because it will waste time and time is money.
At least your friends will be there, and they look pretty happy...
During this unit you will be working to understand the challenges facing children during the industrial revolution.
You will need to read through information carefully and practice your research and presentation skills. There will be questions along the way that you will need to answer but it will be beneficial to also come up with your own questions as you go. It is individual work so make sure what you present is not the same as someone else's.
You can present your work as:
A poster
A blog or diary entry
Video (You will also need to hand in your written answers)
A slide show
A Google document
This will be marked work so present it in a way that reflects our Mairehau values!
