To be able discern between copyright and creative commons
To develop search techniques for copyright free images etc.
Copyright, Creative commons, attribution
When you search online for images/music/videos these are protected by laws. Did you know you are not supposed to use Google Images in your school work without permission?! We are not strict on this at school but if you move into media studies, more of your work needs to be original or attributed to the creator.
When you make something, it is nice to get paid for it. Creative people are often not paid a lot for their work and their stuff not only gets taken and not credited to them but also they miss out on the money.
Google can help you when you do an image search. If you need to be more careful with your images you can select a dropdown box. Tools > Usage Rights > Creative commons licenses
For example: Sally wants to find a picture of a bunny to use for her work so she searches with Google Images
Alternatively she could just do a Google search for "copyright free images" there are a lot of websites that have image banks. Unfortunately a lot of sites charge a fee to have access to good images.
Similarly there are a lot of copyright free sounds available online. An example is www.BenSound.com. Some sounds you need to pay for but there are a lot of free ones
In this task you will need to search BenSound.com to find a song to match this video. Using Canva.com you will add this sound to the video (tutorial video below). You will need to pick a song that fits the movement and vibe of the advert. You may also want to add sound effects e.g. crunching. You will need to find copyright free sounds for this online and download them to your chromebook.
Here is the ad. Watch it and see if you can pick what sort of song you would use. Please note: it cannot be a song from an artist that you like as you would need to pay them for the rights. You must find copyright free music.
Mrs Taylor has created a tutorial on how to use Canva to add sound to the advert. Canva is pretty basic but it does what we need it to.
You will need to open three tabs on your computer:
and this website we are on (in case you are not currently viewing it on your own screen)
More advanced users may want to use capcut.com
