To be able to define and apply appropriate media studies keywords
Jingle, Logo, Product, Target Audience, Slogan
Match these words to the correct definition. There are also some questions to fill in so make sure you read the sheet fully!
Brainstorm on the board with the teacher what you expect to see in an ad. e.g. slogan...
This ad has had the video removed. It will be your job to figure out in detail what you think is happening. From the structure you brainstormed... what things will it need? You will design it using a storyboard.
As a class you will vote on who you think is the closest... actual closest wins!
You may have done this in English before. Here is an example of an advertising storyboard advert. It is made of thumbnails (sketches) and notes. It shows the sort of things you will need to consider.
You can either do this online at storyboardthat.com or on paper. This can be done in groups (no more than 3) or individually.
Things to include:
logo
product
instructions on camera angles
who the target market is (what sort of person/people are featured?)
For early finishers...
Watch this advert.
Who is this ad targeted at?
What features of the product are they pushing?
Why have they used The Rock?
How might that impact the viewer?
Find out what ZOA means. Why might they have picked this as the product name?
How would you describe the logo? Why might they have chosen this design?
Are they pushing this product to be healthy?
Google and find out some information about this product- Is it as good as they make it out to be? Is it healthy?
Would you buy it after seeing the ad and reading about it?
