Understanding the position of places on Earth. Location is the term used to describe the position of places. Location can be described using absolute location (e.g. longitude & latitude) or relative location.
To refresh everyone on this skill (probably covered in primary!) we are going to do a couple of tasks.

There are different ways to describe to a person where a certain place is is, a skill we need to develop in Geography.
Use the sheet below to breakdown the word location.
Relative location describes a location in relation to the places surrounding it. When you are describing where a place is using relative location, you need to use north, south, east and west to help your descriptions.
When you are using relative location you can also use distance to help describe where something is. E.g. you might say "My house is 1km north of Mairehau High School."
