To understand what a brief is and how it guides the development of media.
When a concept needs to be developed for an advert or movie, a brief needs to be developed. The brief gives the person creating the media guidance when making choices.
The purpose of the media
Target audience
Key message(s)
Style/mood/tone of the media
Requirements and restraints (e.g. length of video)
Budget and timeline
Read the brief on the worsheet and answer the questions.
Over the next few lessons you will be planning for a film trailer. You will be allocated a genre and some other details. A teaser trailer is a shorter version of a trailer and this is going to be your goal.
Watch a couple of this trailers and decide what the important things a trailer needs to have. Do this as a brainstorm as a class. The two trailers have very different stories and styles but there are many things they both have.

Click on the wheel to be allocated a genre. Once you have a genre, select a character (or two), a setting and an event from the sheet below. For this part of the task you will be creating a brief, but first you need to be allocated a genre and some elements that must be included in your film trailer.
Below is a template to write a brief. Fill in all the sections. Your teacher may share you a copy on Google Classroom. This brief must be completed before any other work is done on your movie trailer.
