We are learning different types of marketing and how they reach a target market.
Before a product is developed and marketed, the developer and marketer need to decide who the TARGET MARKET is (sometimes this is done before the product is made, sometimes after).
A target market is the group of people a product is aimed at. They will build their ads etc. around this group. They may be targeted by their:
Age
Gender
Amount of income
Ethnicity
Occupation (job or student or jobless/retired)
Some companies develop a product for an existing need.
Some might make a product and push the need for it.
Product and target market
Describe the product
Who is the target market? (How can you tell?!)
Think about:
Actors that are used in the ad
What is around the actor
What kind of person would like or relate to this ad
What sort of person would understand this ad
What age, occupation, gender etc. would they be targeting
