Innovation works by introducing new ideas, methods, or products that improve existing ones or solve problems.
In this clip, the main characters solve a problem by taking an idea and refining it. Each time they have success straight away but in the real world it might take trial after trial.
New Zealanders are known to be really good at solving problems, inventing new things and solving problems by developing ingenious solutions. We can trace this back to how harsh our land was to early settlers, both Māori and Pakeha. Basically, to survive, people had to be smart, this has been passed down through generations and has led to some great innovations by Kiwis.
As a class or in groups, brainstorm as many Aotearoa innovations you can think of.
You will be working to make an inquiry on a innovation that came out of Aotearoa.
