As you go through this section in your workbook there will be questions you need to answer. This page will help you answer those.
For the sake of this task we are going to assume that you are a student about to study at uni or polytech.
The average tertiary student (anything after high school) borrows $228.81 a week from the government to help pay for living expenses (rent, food etc.). Often this isn’t enough and students work part time, as well as study (and many really struggle!). The average tertiary student earns $356 each week in a job.
Look at the numbers, how much total income does the average student have per week?
If you really don’t think you would go onto further study, but will start in a job (e.g. trade, retail etc.) try and find what income you would start on. HOWEVER! Most trades require you to do study after high school too.
Search your chosen career on this website and bear in mind it will be a lower amount, rather than just the average.
